THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA COLLEGE OF NURSING
SELECTION GUIDELINES FOR EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING AWARDS
By Student Vote

GENERAL GUIDELINES:

• Award to be given to one professional entry faculty award and one DNP faculty award in December; and, one professional entry faculty award and one PHD faculty award in May.
• The selection process will be based entirely upon a vote of the students

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: The recipient must:

• be a full time faculty member of the College of Nursing.
• have completed at least one year of teaching at the College
• have not received the award in the past two years

SUGGESTED CHARACTERISTICS FOR SELECTION:

• Teaches in a creative and innovative manner.
• Stimulates student interest.
• Communicates with clarity.
• Is a positive role model.
• Promotes professional and personal development in students.
• Is available to students.

BALLOTING PROCESS:

• Ballot will include instructions, suggested characteristics for selection, space for three choices, student login name and indication of graduate/undergraduate status (*Note: Login names will be used to ensure voting only by eligible students and to be sure there is one vote per eligible student. Login names will be removed before calculating scores).
• Faculty members will receive 3 points for a first choice vote, 2 points for a second choice vote, and 1 point for a third choice vote. Selection will be made exclusively on point totals.
