Faculty need to notify the Office of Nursing Research as soon as the decision to submit a grant is made. Please complete an Intent to Submit a Grant Form and e-mail to the ONR Program Coordinators.
If your research proposal is a clinical trail, please see the
CONSORT (CONsolidated Standards of Reporting Trials)
Statement

- Think Tank/Mock Review Process
Think Tanks and Mock Reviews are held every Wednesday afternoon between 2:00 and 5:00 pm. Click here for Think Tank/Mock Review Guidelines. To schedule a Think Tank or Mock Review e-mail the ONR Program Coordinators.
The Principal Investigator will need to contact Andrew Wang, Business Manager, Senior at 626-9881 or awang@nursing.arizona.edu for assistance with budget preparation.
The Office of Nursing Research Program Coordinators are responsible for preparing the University of Arizona Proposal Routing Sheet and obtaining the required signatures to route the proposal through the University system. The application face page, abstract, budget and justification are also required for routing. Routing needs to be completed a minimum of 8 working days before the grant submission deadline.
Proposals submitted to intramural funding sources (i.e. Vice President for Research, TRIFF, all UA academic units) or through the University of Arizona Foundation need to be routed within the College of Nursing (CON) using the CON Proposal Routing Sheet. Contact the Office of Nursing Research Program Coordinators for further information.
If the proposal involves Co-Investigator’s outside the College of Nursing, please allow for additional time to route. Many departments and colleges have internal routing processes which can add significantly to the time it takes to obtain signatures. *NOTE* Co-Investigator’s at other universities are not required to sign the University of Arizona Proposal Routing Sheet.
If you are a Co-Investigator on a proposal where the Principal Investigator is not in the College of Nursing, the proposal needs to be routed to the College. Please e-mail the ONR Program Coordinators to make arrangements.
If Recombinant DNA or Microbial Pathogens are involved in the research, a Memorandum of Understanding Agreement (MUA) is submitted to the Institutional Biosafety Committee before the proposal is routed. Please see http://www.ibc.arizona.edu/node/151 for further information.
All persons involved in research must complete the CITI Program (www.citiprogram.org). Additional training is required for those involved in research involving animals and those involved in research involving biological material.
The final proposal, appendices, and other accompanying documents (i.e. biosketches, letters of support) need to be in the Office of Nursing Research a minimum of 7 working days before the grant submission deadline in order for the grant to be processed and submitted.
The Principal Investigator is responsible for reviewing and approving the on-line proposal. This review takes place in Office of Nursing Research in the Program Coordinator’s office. The Program Coordinator then forwards the application package to Sponsored Projects for submission.
For hard copy submissions, the Principal Investigator reviews and approves the final proposal and the Program Coordinator mails the proposal.
At Sponsored Projects, the proposal is reviewed for adherence to guidelines, accuracy of the budget, and compliance with University policies. The Sponsored Projects pre-award official is the signatory for the University of Arizona and proposals cannot be submitted for external funding without this signature. |
