Clinical Expertise: 

I have worked in the area of public health since becoming a Public Health Nurse in 1977 and have had an opportunity to practice in a variety of settings that have included, but have not been limited to: public health nursing in an impoverished district in Tucson, AZ; caring for school aged students and faculty in rural Arizona; managing MCH programs and home visiting services to the Tohono O’odham nation in Tucson and Sells, Arizona; managing a $1.6 million Title X Family Planning Program in Pima County, AZ to assure reproductive health care access to underserved women (and men);  an adoption awareness trainer with a local children’s advocacy center; coordinating the planning and public health response for Pima County; managing the Community Disease Prevention Division for Pima County;  and directing all functions, programs and activities of the Pima County Health Department, a 350 employee operation with an annual operating budget of $36 million.

I was awarded the University of Arizona, College of Nursing Excellence in Teaching Award in December 2014; the University of Arizona Alumni Association Recognition Award in November, 2011; a Fabulous Fifty Nurse, Tucson AZ. in May, 2007; and was recognized by Sigma Theta Tau, Beta Mu Chapter for Excellence in Clinical Practice in April, 1991. 

I am a current member of Beta Mu Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society of Nursing and the Arizona Public Health Association..

In October, 2011 I was the keynote speaker at the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health Scholarship Luncheon and presented the convocation speech at the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health graduation in December, 2010.

In my current RN to MS faculty role I am lead faculty for the Population Health Course as well as the Healthcare Environments and Care Coordination course.
