Your nursing career starts here—at the University of Arizona College of Nursing, a close-knit learning community where each year more than 400 students gain the knowledge and experience needed to achieve the educational outcomes that lead to a satisfying professional practice or advanced education.
The 1st Degree BSN Traditional Pathway
The 1st degree BSN Traditional Pathway is designed for students in the process of completing their first baccalaureate who wish to pursue a career in nursing. The four semester upper-division entry level professional nursing Traditional Pathway leads to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and eligibility to take the national licensure examination required for practice as a nurse.
The 2nd Degree BSN Accelerated Pathway
The 2nd degree BSN Accelerated Pathway is designed for students with an earned non-nursing baccalaureate who wish to pursue a career in nursing. The 14-month 2nd degree BSN Accelerated Pathway leads to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and eligibility to take the national licensure examination required for practice as a nurse.
The 2nd degree BSN Accelerated Pathway provides two distinct admission opportunities for students: Non-Sponsored and Sponsored. Non-sponsored students pay 2nd degree BSN Accelerated Pathway tuition without an RN work commitment associated with admission. Sponsored opportunities (tuition free) are made possible by Tucson healthcare agency partners who pay a predetermined amount to cover costs associated with the 2nd degree pathway. Partners include University Medical Center, Northwest Medical Center and Tucson Medical Center. All sponsored students enter into an employment commitment with their sponsor agreeing to work as an RN for three years following graduation. If the student fails to meet the work commitment, the student will reimburse his/her sponsor in accordance with terms established in an agreement between the student and the healthcare sponsor.
In 2010, the 2nd degree BSN Accelerated Pathway expands student access by offering a unique sponsored opportunity for students committed to attend classes and work in the Yuma, Arizona region.
