Most people giving birth receive a medication called oxytocin either during labor or after birth. Oxytocin causes the uterus to contract. We are studying why oxytocin may work better for some people than others, leading to easier labor or less bleeding postpartum.

College of Nursing MEPN Gilbert graduate shares his uniquely educational experience and acceptance of new role with the college as a soon to be psychiatric nurse practitioner.

Dean Ahn it’s been just over six months since you became Dean of the College of Nursing, you relocated to Tucson from across the country. Please describe your experience at the College and in Tucson so far?

The University of Arizona College of Nursing honored its fall 2023 graduating class at Centennial Hall on Dec. 14. A total of 168 Wildcat nurses celebrated the successful conclusion to their programs in front of family, friends and faculty.

The convocation and awards ceremony marked the college’s 68th graduating class. The conferred degrees included 43 Bachelor of Science in Nursing, 43 Bachelor of Science in Nursing – Integrative Health, one Graduate Nurse Practitioner Certificate, six Master of Science in Nursing, 74 Doctor of Nursing Practice and one Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing.

The Strengthening Eldercare Workforce through Rural and Underserved Nursing (SEW-RUN) grant was funded in 2021 by the Health Resource and Services Administration (HRSA) with the purpose of educating entry level nursing students from diverse backgrounds in care of diverse populations of older adults with complex needs living in rural and under-resourced areas.
