Talk Title: Full Circle: From Clinical Practice to Research and Back
Summary: Dr. Schwartz’s early work focused on the measurement of cancer-related fatigue. She conducted early pioneering work in exercise oncology and is internationally recognized for her research on the physical and psychological benefits of exercise for cancer survivors during and following cancer treatment.. Dr. Schwartz’s program of research has been funded by National Institute of Health, Department of Defense, Oncology Nursing Society and industry. She has published over a hundred research publications and books. She is the recipient of several prestigious awards for her contributions to science, including the Rose Mary Carol Johnson Oncology Nursing Society Distinguished Award for continuous contribution to oncology nursing literature, University of Florida Alumnus of the Year and 2 Gold Medals from AVA Digital Awards for the Cancer Exercise App. Dr. Schwartz’s research is a blend of her life experiences in competitive sports, clinical care and health promotion.
BIO: Anna L. Schwartz, PhD, FNP-BC, FAAN received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Nursing from University of Florida, a Master of Science in Health Education from Florida State University, a Master of Science in Community Health Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner certificate from Arizona State University and her PhD in Nursing from University of Utah. She has also set several world records in bicycling and regional awards in reining horse competitions.
