Presentation Title: An Odyssey Towards Becoming an Independent Clinician Scientist in Cancer Survivorship
Dr. Bennett is a postdoctoral fellow in the Palliative Care and Aging Research T32 program at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. His research investigates adolescent and young adult (AYA) mental health outcomes during early cancer survivorship.
Dr. Bennett is interested in developing a digital media creative art therapy (DigiCAT) intervention to improve mental health outcomes and health related quality of life for AYA cancer survivors. Dr. Bennett’s contributions to nursing science include eight peer reviewed publications in high impact journals, and 13 presentations at peer-reviewed scientific conferences. Dr. Bennett received the Dean’s Early Scholar Award in Caring Science at the University of Colorado Denver College of Nursing. He was also a March of Dimes Nurse of the Year Finalist in the Advanced Practice Nurse Category.
Dr. Bennett remains actively engaged with the AYA population and has served as an invited speaker at conferences designed for AYA cancer survivors. He has been a featured guest on the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society podcast The Bloodline, and YouTube talk show Palliative Care Friday Chalk Talk.
