South Korean nursing students spend week learning in Tucson

Eight students from CHA University in South Korea, along with their professor, spent the last week of June learning about the intricacies of nursing in the United States as guests of Brian Ahn, PhD, dean of the University of Arizona College of Nursing.

Assistant professor Dr. Jee-Hye Yoo brought Jueun Kim, Jieun Hong, Minseo Kim, Jaewoo Kim, Jiwon Min, Sehyun Won, Yena Oh and Wooyoung Lee to Tucson to participate in a five-day program. The visitors received hands-on experiences in the college's simulation labs and tours of Banner – University Medical Center Tucson, El Rio Health and Sandstone Nursing Home.

“I am proud that our partnership with CHA University College of Nursing strengthens Arizona Nursing as a global leader in nursing research and education,” said Ahn. “This collaboration enhances our global visibility and aligns with our mission to cultivate nurse leaders and advance nursing research worldwide.”

In addition to interacting with college faculty members, the students utilized high-fidelity equipment in the simulation lab, shadowed intensive care unit teams at Banner – University Medical Center Tucson, interacted with nurses across various departments in the hospitals, discussed the American health care system and explored diversity within health care settings.

After the visit, the South Korean students expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and the opportunity to broaden their horizons in a new health care environment.
