Two Assistant Clinical Professors at the College of Nursing received a $1,482,169 Advanced Nurse Education‐Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program grant to expand sexual assault response services in rural areas of Region 9 (Arizona, Nevada, California, Hawaii, and the US Affiliated Pacific Islands) over three years.

The fellowship program is dedicated to the global advancement of nurse practitioners and the high-quality health care they deliver.

The University of Arizona College of Nursing’s Shu-Fen Wung, PhD, MS, RN, ACNP-BC, FAAN, a professor and director of Nursing-Engineering Initiatives, received a $120,000 Technology and Research Initiative Fund grant for her Personalized Intelligent Care for Older Adults with Infections project.

Erickson, PhD, CNM, will serve a three-year term as chair for the Division of Research at the American College of Nurse-Midwives. 

An Indian Health Service grant will help Indigenous nursing students pursue higher education while also building new tribal-academic-practice collaborations to improve the care of Native populations.

Lisa Grisham, MSN, NNP, a University of Arizona College of Nursing DNP/PhD candidate, received the Margaret Comerford Freda March of Dimes Graduate Nursing Scholarship Award.

Rina Fox, PhD, MPH, an assistant professor at the University of Arizona College of Nursing, has been selected for the National Institutes of Health Summer Institute for Randomized Trials of Behavioral Interventions. Fox is one of 30 fellows selected from about 160 applicants for the highly competitive institute funded by the NIH.

Dawn Goldstein, PhD, RN, PMHNP-BC, and Tanya R. Sorrell, PhD, PMHNP-BC, MS, RN, FAANP, both alumna of the University of Arizona College of Nursing’s PhD program, along with current PhD student Jerrol B. Wallace, DNP, MSN, CRNA, FAANA, will be inducted into the 2024 American Academy of Nursing class of Fellows of nurse-leaders during the academy’s annual Health Policy Conference in late October in Washington, D.C.

Chen X. Chen, PhD, RN, MBBS, FAAN, will join the University of Arizona College of Nursing as the Sorensen Endowed Professor focused on improving the health, well-being and health care of individuals, families and communities. She begins Aug. 5.
