College of Nursing Study Abroad

Why study abroad in the College of Nursing?

Nursing care extends beyond borders. Studying abroad gives College of Nursing students the opportunity to explore different cultures, broaden their understanding of health care and discover new perspectives on caring for individuals and communities.

Through international learning experiences, students can strengthen their cultural awareness, adaptability and appreciation for the diverse factors that shape health.

These experiences complement the college’s commitment to developing compassionate, innovative nurse leaders who advance health, equity and inclusiveness in Arizona and around the world.

How To Plan For Study Abroad

  • Talk to your academic advisor about studying abroad as early as possible.
    • Note: Study abroad opportunities are available during the first two years of your degree, while you complete general education requirements. The final two years focus on specialized nursing coursework and clinical experiences that must meet U.S. nursing education and licensure requirements and be completed through an accredited U.S. nursing program.
    • Planning ahead with your academic advisor can help you identify programs that complement your degree requirements and make the most of your time at the University of Arizona.
  • Consider semester, summer, and shorter-term options based on what works best with your degree plan.
  • Read the Study Abroad checklist and FAQs
  • Use the Study Abroad Program Search to explore opportunities across the university.
  • Meet with the Study Abroad office to understand the process and next steps.
